What’s “Invention Convention?”
Check out the first-ever Girl Scout Invention Convention at STEM Expo! First, explore inventors and how they solve problems. Then, harness your own creativity and passion to build your own invention prototype! Before you leave, stop by the Girl Scout Patent Office to learn how to protect your invention with a patent and get your own “Girl Scout Patent certificate” to take home.
Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors will earn their “Designing Robots” badge (available for purchase at the Badge & Sash pop-up shop on-site), and all Girl Scouts will walk away with a fun patch and “Girl Scout Patent Certificate.”
Invention Convention is included in the registration fee and open to all STEM Expo participants. Drop in anytime during the event, and plan to stay about 45 minutes to complete the activity. Younger Girl Scouts will need some assistance from their adults. Please note that this experience is in place of the workshops featured at past STEM Expos; we hope everyone can enjoy this badge-earning experience!
What does the registration fee include?
The registration fee includes admission to the event, including all the Activity Tables, Girl Scout Science Fair, and Invention Convention. It also includes a STEM Expo fun patch for each Girl Scout (which you can pick up in the Invention Convention Patent Office). We anticipate families can spend 2-3 hours exploring everything the event has to offer! You can use Cookie Dough to register for this event, and Financial Aid is available.
Are there workshops this year?
This year, there will only be workshops for Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador (6th-12th grade) Girl Scouts. We will only have on-site sign up for these experiences. The workshop schedule will be published in December.
Is this a family event?
Parents and siblings are welcome to attend STEM Expo! Girl Scouts must be accompanied by an adult (parent, guardian, or Troop Leader) during their time at STEM Expo. Each attendee must purchase a ticket. Siblings 5 and under are free and do not need to register.
When should we plan to arrive? How long should we expect to stay at the event?
When registering, you’ll indicate your preferred arrival time. We recommend arriving by 2:00 PM at the latest. Final admittance will be at 2:30 PM to ensure all guests have ample time to enjoy the event. We suggest planning on spending 2-3 hours at STEM Expo.
Is this event indoors or outdoors?
This year’s venue is fully indoors!
Can we register at the door for STEM Expo?
On-site registration will be limited and will include an additional fee. We encourage early registration in order to reserve your slot at the best price! Keep in mind that the final admission is at 2:30 PM- arrive by 2:00 PM if you intend to register on-site.
My Girl Scout would like to use Cookie Dough to attend. How do we do that?To use Cookie Dough for this event please register FIRST to reserve your slot and choose "pay by mail" at checkout. Then fill out the relevant form with "STEM Expo 2025" as the event. We'll be in touch to confirm everything.

Can I drop my Girl Scout off at STEM Expo for the day?
No, all Girl Scouts must be accompanied by an adult (parent, guardian, or Troop Leader) also registered for the event. Troop Leaders bringing a troop are responsible for maintaining Girl Scout safety ratios (utilizing registered adults from their troop) at the event.
Can my Girl Scout earn badges at STEM Expo?
Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors will earn their Designing Robots badge by participating in the Invention Convention activity. Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors can partially earn a badge by participating in the older Girl Scout workshops. Other badge steps may be completed by participating in the different Activity Tables. All Girl Scouts will receive a fun patch after completing Invention Convention.
Please note that the fun patch is included with your registration fee. Other badges are NOT included. They will be available for purchase from the on-site Badge & Sash pop-up shop.
What is your refund policy?
You can cancel your registration at any time until the registration closes on January 11, 2026. If you cancel by this date, you will receive a refund for paid costs, minus the $5.00 deposit. If you cancel after this date, you will not receive a refund for the program.
Will the Badge & Sash be at the STEM Expo?
Yes! The Badge & Sash pop-up will have a selection of items from the Mableton Store, including badges.
Will food and drinks be available for purchase?
Yes! The Cobb County Civic Center will be selling concessions on-site, including snacks and drinks. Please leave outside food and drinks (other than water) in the car. You are welcome to bring lunch for a car picnic, or leave for lunch and return, but no outside food or drink can be brought into the venue. Reusable water bottles are welcome.
Where can we park?
Parking is free and on-site. Look for signs on arrival and you’ll be pointed to event parking. Ample handicapped parking is available.
What are SWAPS?
SWAPS stands for “Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere.” They are small tokens of friendship that Girl Scouts exchange with one another, and each SWAP uniquely reflects a fellow Girl Scout, their troop, or a memory of a special event. They’re a great way to share stories and get to know Girl Scouts from across the country and the world. Learn more about this Girl Scout Tradition here.
What is the Sensory Friendly Room?
This space is designed for individuals and families who just need a calm minute at this busy event. Inside you’ll find a quiet space, fidgets and quiet games, and ample seating. This is especially for our neurodivergent Girl Scouts and families who may feel overwhelmed or dysregulated at the event.
How accessible is this venue? (wheelchair users and strollers)
This space is fully accessible for strollers and wheelchair users. It is a 2-story venue with an elevator. There are minimal “bumps” or curbs to get into the space from the parking lot. Ample handicapped parking is available. This event can get busy, so we recommend using a smaller stroller if possible.
