Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta has been blazing trails and redefining what’s possible for girls everywhere since 1921.
At that time, while most women had recently earned the right to vote, most women still followed strict social norms and restrictions educationally and financially. The Girl Scout organization changed this.
Girls were encouraged to embrace their unique strengths and create opportunities based on their interest, not someone else’s. And with that, girls began participating in areas previously limited to them…including sports, science, and outdoor adventures. The values instilled in girls more than 100 years ago are still true today – helping every girl unlock her full potential, find lifelong friends, and make the world a better place.
Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta serves more than 33,000 girl and adult members in 34 counties in the greater metropolitan Atlanta area. The counties include:
Bartow, Butts, Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fannin, Fayette, Floyd, Forsyth, Fulton, Gilmer, Gordon, Gwinnett, Haralson, Heard, Henry, Lamar, Meriwether, Murray, Newton, Paulding, Pickens, Pike, Polk, Rockdale, Spalding, Troup, Upson, Whitfield and a portion of Polk County, Tennessee.
Behind every Girl Scout and volunteer is a team of local staff ready to help them earn that next badge, embark on a camping adventure, or organize an impactful service project. That’s what a Girl Scout council is. We are here to maintain camp properties, provide local Girl Scouts skill-building workshops and resources to achieve whatever they can dream up. Tucked away in the heart of Atlanta and next door to the historic Camp Timber Ridge, the Mableton Service Center is home to our staff offices, Badge & Sash retail store and resource center for volunteers.
