Shine, Share, Create! Join Junior–Ambassador Girl Scouts from across Greater Atlanta to build media skills and become a powerful voice for Girl Scouts. Step into the spotlight at council and community events, share your story, boost digital smarts, and explore careers in media, journalism, production, and marketing.
Miss Media is an exciting eight-month program for Girl Scouts to explore the evolving world of media, sharpen communication skills, and dive into career exploration—all while having fun and making new friends!
Through Miss Media, you'll:
- Develop writing, public speaking, and photography skills
- Interview with TV, radio, or print mediaStar in Girl Scout commercials, videos, and print features
- Create original Girl Scout videos, articles, and photos
- Speak at local events and participate in council activities
- Explore Atlanta as a Top 10 media market
- Participate in focus groups and special council projects
The goals of the program include:
- To develop GSGATL peer role models for other girls in the Atlanta community
- Give our girls an opportunity to develop lifelong skills while representing Girl Scouts
- To elevate Girl Scouts as real examples of the impact Girl Scouts has been and continues to make on girls and their communities
- Remind the world that we are the premier leadership development organization for girls and young women
- Tell the Girl Scout story- our girls are always counting down to their next adventure!
- Give more girls an opportunity to know how Girl Scouts can give them a chance to explore the world and have fun with new friends.
We encourage you to find new and inspiring ways to connect your own experiences to the Girl Scout Movement and tell your stories through the Miss Media program!
Requirements
- Be a registered Girl Scout for the current membership year
- Attend team meetings and media training
- Must be flexible to be called upon for major Girl Scout events
- Submit at least 1 piece of coverage throughout the year
- This can include major Girl Scout events, a non-Girl Scout topic that is relevant to Girl Scouts (such as a sport or celebrity), or a personal interest
- Your pieces can be written, video, or photography, however, think about a video or photos to accompany any written news article, Instagram post or reel.
- Write one (1) essay about what you've learned at the end of the Miss Media year
- Have a solid understanding of Girl Scouts overall. You may be asked to talk about a variety of topics such as camp, cookies, programs, troop activities, or trips. While council will provide key talking points, a strong general knowledge of Girl Scouts is expected.
- Represent Girl Scouts in an appropriate manner
