Green Tie Guys have begun stepping up for girls in our community
Atlanta, Georgia (October 15th) Today, Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta announced that CEO Jai Ferrell was named one of the 100 Atlanta Women of Influence by the Atlanta Business League. This recognition celebrates the most influential African American businesswomen making an impact in the Atlanta metro area. These women were celebrated at the Women of Vision breakfast on October 7.
Ferrell is the first woman of color to lead the local Girl Scout council, which serves over 33,000 members across 34 counties. She oversees the region’s Girl Scout Cookie Program, which generates more than $16 million in local revenue. All profits stay local and fund girls’ leadership and career development programming.
Atlanta currently ranks 50th out of 50 major metro areas in economic mobility. This statistic drives the Spelman and Georgia State University alum to ensure the Girl Scout program is accessible to all girls. Under her leadership in FY 2024, the council provided $435k in financial aid to girls for events such as STEM Expo, the region's largest science career exploration event for girls, now in its 15th year.
Ferrell, a fifth-generation Atlantan, is the former Chief Commercial Revenue Officer for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International. She is a board member of the Andrew & Walter Young YMCA, the Grove Park Foundation, and a principal partner with Atlanta, Clayton, DeKalb and Fulton County Schools.
