Volunteer with Girl Scouts and help girls find what’s within.

Be part of the moments that spark confidence, courage, and joy—sign up and make a difference today!

Behind every girl who discovers her strength is a volunteer who shows up, cheers her on, and believes in her. You already have what it takes to inspire girls to explore, grow, and lead. Along the way, you’ll build your own confidence, strengthen your leadership skills, and connect with a supportive community that shares your passion.

  • Volunteer as a troop leader: Guide a group of Girl Scouts by creating a fun, safe space. We’ll help you get started with easy-to-use tools like the Girl Scout Experience Box and ready-made Troop Year Plans so you can focus on fun, growth, and connection.

  • Be a supportive adult volunteer: Help girls thrive by assisting with meetings, activities, or special events, no matter your schedule or experience.

  • Get involved on your terms. Choose a role that fits your time and interests—from leading a troop to lending a hand behind the scenes.

No previous experience is required to support girls as they build confidence, skills, and lifelong friendships through the Girl Scout experience. Your local Girl Scout Council can help get you started.

Sign up to be a volunteer today.

The Girl Scout membership year runs from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027. Annual membership dues are $65 for girl members and $30 for adult members. Additional local fees and discounts may apply. Financial aid may be available. Girl Scout memberships must be renewed annually.

FAQs

Can parents and adults volunteer? toggle arrow

Absolutely! Girls always need guides and mentors to help them develop into successful adults. Whether you’re a recent college grad, a parent, a retiree, or anyone with a sense of curiosity and adventure, your unique skills and experience are what make Girl Scouting a powerful leadership experience for girls.

What will I do as a Girl Scout volunteer? toggle arrow

A volunteer serves as a partner and role model for girls. Whether you volunteer at meetings, go on field trips, or become a troop leader, the time you devote will help inspire today’s girls to become tomorrow’s leaders. Get inspired by volunteer stories!

When can I join as a volunteer? toggle arrow

Any day is a good day to volunteer with Girl Scouts. We’re always looking for qualified volunteers to help, whether it’s during the school year, over summer break, or any time in between. In fact, today is the perfect day to get started!

Is there a way to volunteer “sometimes”? toggle arrow

Yes! There are many opportunities available for one-time, corporate or group volunteers. Be sure to also check out our short-term volunteer opportunities.

Is there a screening process? toggle arrow

Yes. To ensure the safety and well-being of our girl members, all volunteers are required to complete a background check prior to becoming involved. All information you provide will be strictly confidential.

What about safety? toggle arrow

Safety is a top priority for Girl Scouts. All activities are supervised, and we provide our volunteers with top-notch training and program resources. We also follow comprehensive safety guidelines tailored to individual activities and girls' ages.
