Date: Sun Mar 22 2026, 12:00 PM EST - 5:00 PM EST
We are partnering with Melissa A. Mitchell of Abeille Creations to
bring a new mural to the 17th Street Bridge in Atlanta!
The objective of this project is to design and deliver a bold,
immersive, and celebratory public art experience, designed around Girl
Scouts, the worldwide connection of soccer, creating a lasting visual
landmark in Atlanta tied to youth, culture, and international unity.
We’re inviting Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts to
work alongside the artists, as part of the painting experience. This
is your opportunity to leave a “mark” that will be visible for years
to come!
Project Overview:
- The site will be prepared in advance with pressure washing and
base coating.
- The artist team will paint the stencil and do
the initial paint work.
- Girl Scouts will work in small
groups, filling-in the stencil, similar to a “paint-by-numbers”
system.
- After our support, the team will finish up any
details and will add the protective coating to seal the work for
longevity.
- We’ll host a “ribbon-cutting” to officially
welcome the space to Atlanta.
What to Expect:
-
Environment: Painting will take place outside and on a bridge
– Girl Scouts will need to practice patience and safety.
-
Attire: Wear comfortable clothing that can withstand a few
paint splatters.
-
TeamWORK: Participating troops are encouraged to wear
matching shirts/attire to reinforce team & Girl Scout
spirit!
-
Timing: We’ve organized the painting into 90-minute shifts.
Girl Scouts are limited to sign-up during one time slot.
-
Supervision: Girl Scouts should have a chaperone with them at
all times.
-
Custom Patch: Participating Girl Scouts will be the first to
receive a custom patch, commemorating the mural and worldwide soccer
games happening in Atlanta this summer!
