Ready to discover rock climbing? Join our partners at Get Climbing Outdoors for a special Girl Scout clinic!  This beginner-friendly clinic, hosted at Cherokee Rock Village State Park (Sand Rock Park) in Leesburg, AL, will introduce Girl Scouts to the equipment and safety guidelines involved in rock climbing.  Then you'll get to practice climbing movements, belaying, and get a ton of climbing practice in!  You'll also see how Leave No Trace principles apply to rock climbing.

This clinic is for Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassador Girl Scouts (grades 4-12).  They will earn their Climbing Adventure badge, which can be purchased from the Badge & Sash or online.  Adults who wish to participate are able to register accordingly; adults who wish to observe are free, but should register with their Girl Scouts to ensure safety ratios.  Siblings and friends within the age range are welcome- please register them accordingly.

Please note that outdoor rock climbing has specific safety considerations, which can be found in the Safety Activity Checkpoints.  All required safety equipment (harnesses, helmets, and shoes) will be provided by Get Climbing Outdoors.  Attendees should wear closed-toed shoes, loose athletic-style clothing, and dress in layers appropriate to the weather.  Bring sunscreen, bug spray, water, your own lunch, and snacks.  Lunch and snacks are NOT provided for this all-day clinic.  In order to provide appropriate safety gear, attendees will be asked to provide their waist measurements at time of registration.  You also will need to provide a day-of contact number, and will have to sign a liability waiver.  Questions regarding safety precautions, clinic specifics, or other climbing-related concerns can be direction to Silvia at Get Climbing Outdoors: silvia@getclimbingoutside.com

The workshop will be hosted in Leesburg, Alabama at Cherokee Rock Village State Park (also known as Sand Rock Park).  Please note that transportation and arriving ON TIME is the responsibility of the attendees- plan for travel time when making arrangements!  The clinic will begin promptly at 10:00 AM EST/Georgia time (9:00 AM CST/Alabama time), and will end at 4:00 PM EST/Georgia time (3:00 PM CST/Alabama time).  Each Girl Scout must be accompanied by an adult (parent, guardian, or Troop Leader), within typical safety ratios.  This program has a critical minimum of 6 participants to ensure that staff time is being used appropriately.  If we don't meet the minimum by the 3-week registration deadline, it may be cancelled or postponed.  Please register early! Thanks to our partners at Get Climbing Outdoors, this program is significantly discounted for our members.
