Get your GLO on with a deep dive into the world of robotics! This two-day workshop is perfect for Girl Scouts who are curious about robotics, but want to try it out before committing to a team. On Day One, you'll get to build your own metal robot (not Lego!), learn how to drive it, and discover more about the engineering of robots. Day Two is all about using your robot to solve challenges and competing against other Girl Scouts! Girl Scouts will stretch their engineering, coding, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills! Plus, you'll get to meet and work with other girls on FIRST robotics teams around Georgia!
This two-day workshop is for rising and current Cadette Girl Scouts (6th-9th grade in 24-25 school year) and will be hosted at the Mableton Service Center. Girl Scouts may be dropped off, or parents may stay on-site in the parent lounge. Lunch and snacks on both days will be provided (please note any food allergies in the registration). Parents are welcome to join the competition and showcase on Sunday afternoon (1:00-4:00 PM). Female-identifying siblings within the same age range are welcome; please include them in this registration. Girl Scouts will earn their Robotics 1, 2, and 3 badges, plus a coding badge, which will be provided after the workshop. This workshop will prepare Girl Scouts to join a FIRST robotics team if they choose to do so- additional info will be provided. Please note that Girl Scouts will be building a metal robot (using tools like screwdrivers) and working on tablets/computers during this workshop- if you need any specific accommodations please reach out.
Please note that this is a two-day workshop. Attendance is required on both days in order to earn the badges. We are able to offer this workshop, normally priced at $110, at a discounted rate of $55, thanks to our partners at Georgia FIRST Robotics. Register before April 8 for an additional $10 discount!
