Green Tie Guys have begun stepping up for girls in our community
Join Girls Who Code @ GA Tech for an awesome coding workshop! In this session for Daisies and Brownies, GA Tech Girls Who Code members will guide Girl Scouts through a fun, unplugged curriculum! No laptops are required as Girl Scouts learn the basis of computer logic by understanding what a "bit" is, image processing through pixel art, and basic algorithms by getting active!
Girls Who Code (GWC) is a national organization with the mission of reducing the gender gap in STEM, and Georgia Tech has its own chapter! GT GWC provides strong female role models to younger students by teaching them how to code.
This program is for Daisy and Brownie Girl Scouts (K-3rd grade). This workshop will be hosted on GA Tech's campus in midtown Atlanta. Each Girl Scout must be accompanied by an adult (parent, guardian, or Troop Leader) within typical safety ratios. Siblings within the same age range are welcome; please include them in this registration. Note that parking will be about $6/vehicle- specific info will be provided in the confirmation email.
This is NOT a drop-off event. Due to the nature of this program, adults need to purchase a ticket for themselves and any additional adults or siblings that will be in attendance. Adults will have an opportunity to engage in the program experience alongside their Girl Scouts, helping to reinforce new concepts, learning, exploration, and development. We encourage you to be ENGAGED, let your GIRL SCOUT take the LEAD, and HAVE FUN!
