October 11: Celebrate
the International Day of the Girl with your Troop or
Group! WHAT IT IS: On the International Day of
the Girl (IDG) the global community, including the
World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts,
comes together to celebrate the power of girls and
highlight, discuss, and take action to advance the
rights of and opportunities for girls everywhere. Every
year, Girl Scouts of the USA celebrates International Day of
the Girl with a special campaign created around the annual
theme; look for details at https://www.girlscouts.org/en/for-girls/think-globally.html. It
is a day to promote girls' rights, highlight the unique
challenges they face, and showcase their potential to make a
difference in the world. THE DAY OF THE GIRL 2025
THEME is “The girl I am, the change I lead: Girls on the
frontlines of crisis.” The International Day of the Girl is a
key global moment on which to celebrate girls everywhere,
amplifying their voices, actions and leadership. It is a day
that belongs to everyone who cares about girls and their
rights. On this day, we come together to recognize and
advocate for the full spectrum of girls’ rights. Learn more
at International
Day of the Girl 2025 | UNICEF. INTERNATIONAL DAY
OF THE GIRL information and activity ideas are available now
on pages 26-28 of the Global Action Days Toolkit, found in the
Resources section of the Volunteer Toolkit. By doing
activities that celebrate the International Day of the Girl,
Girl Scouts are completing one step toward earning the Global
Action Days patch. WHY WE CELEBRATE: We know that
each girl has the power to exercise her G.I.R.L. (Go-getter,
Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ potential. By supporting and
investing in girls, we can make the world a better place,
where girls can live free from gender violence; learn the
skills they need for the future they choose; and lead as a
generation of advocates for positive social change.
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL is always on October 11.
