Join Girls Who Code @ GA Tech for an awesome coding workshop! In this session for Daisies and Brownies, GA Tech Girls Who Code members will guide Girl Scouts through a fun, unplugged curriculum! No laptops are required as Girl Scouts learn the basis of computer logic by understanding what a "bit" is, image processing through pixel art, and basic algorithms by getting active. Girl Scouts will earn their Coding Basics badge and will walk away inspired to learn more!
This workshop is for Daisy and Brownie Girl Scouts (in grades K-3), and will be hosted by our Girls Who Code partners at Georgia Tech. All Girl Scouts will receive their Coding for Good: Coding Basics badge. This is NOT a drop-off event; all Girl Scouts should be accompanied by an adult (parent, guardian, or Troop Leader) within typical safety ratios. Due to the nature of this program, adults need to purchase a ticket for themselves and any additional adults or siblings that will be in attendance. Adults will have an opportunity to engage in the program experience alongside their Girl Scouts, helping to reinforce new concepts, learning, exploration, and development. We encourage you to be ENGAGED, let your GIRL SCOUT take the LEAD, and HAVE FUN!
Please note that this workshop will be held at Georgia Tech. Participants will be responsible for their own parking, which is anticipated to be $10 per vehicle. Specific parking information will be sent the week before the event.
Girls Who Code (GWC) is a national organization with the mission of reducing the gender gap in STEM, and Georgia Tech has its own chapter! GT GWC provides strong female role models to younger students by teaching them how to code.
