3 Season Events

Kick off your Year at one of our 2021 Winter and Spring camping events!

Camp is a place where you unleash your inner G.I.R.L. ( Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-Taker, Leader)™ and discover that you can accomplish anything so why limit that to just the summer? Our trained and caring staff members support girls ages 5-17 in discovering who they are and who they can become. Our engaging programs and activities are designed with girls’ interests in mind, so they can grow their passions and take healthy risks in a safe, supportive environment.

When a girl enters our camps, she grows by learning new skills, engaging with other campers, and having fun. She joins over 100 years of sisterhood and tens of thousands of Girl Scouts (including many of our staff members!) who have found lasting friendships, discovered their strengths, challenged themselves, made lasting memories, and returned home with an all new love for outdoor experiences.

Camp Meriwether

Nestled in the hills south of Atlanta, Meriwether is on 270 acres of shady woods and open fields. Girls learn archery, saddle up with our English equestrian program and create amazing art in the great outdoors. Meriwether’s deep traditions keep girls coming back year after year.

Fairy Magic: January 23

Come to Camp Meriwether for a magical day full of fun activities! Girls will learn the importance of respect and the value of being a good friend. They will leave this weekend with new skills learned during activities that will help them see and be their best self! Girls will get to focus on their creative side and even be inspired by Camp Meriwether’s most creative spirit: Sparkles the fairy.

The day may look a little different than a typical weekend here at Camp Meriwether because of Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta’s protocols in result of the current COVID-19 pandemic, but we will still have the best time! We want you to come enjoy camp and love what is special about this place! It is our passion to serve girls, keep them safe, and empower them to become who they truly are! We strive to make this the best experience possible and we’d love for you to be a part of it!

Finding the Leader in Me and Working with Children and Youth is for our aspiring Girl Scouts that are interested in volunteering at camp during the school year. We have created 4 training sessions over the course of the year to help young leaders grow in 1) leading programs at camp such as arts and crafts, canoeing, outdoor skills, songs, and much more and 2) teaching young girls. We will explore what makes great leaders, what skills we need, and where our own strengths and weaknesses lie. We take the time to address challenges and grow as a team. This training is designed to be a progression, and in most cases we will ask for you to attend both sessions before you are eligible to apply to be a volunteer at camp. The list below shows the courses that are offered and when. The expectation is that you would attend Session 1 and 2 and then apply to be a volunteer with us.

This is the first of a two part course. To be able to apply to be a volunteer you must also sign up for Session 2: Learning to Facilitate and Teach Girls (April 23-25)

Girls Get Away Day: January 31

Girls Get Away is designed for girls to complete the first two pieces of a GSUSA Journey series. Each Journey is centered around a theme and has its own book that girls will use to guide them. While the purpose of this event is to be educational in order to complete the journey, we do work to ensure as much fun as possible! Some of the topics tend to be more intense based on the content covered, but our staff work to create a sense of fun around it while making sure not to detract from the content. Each Journey requires a large amount of book work along with hands on activities. Please expect that campers will spend time sitting, talking, discussing, and processing the content that is being covered. We will ensure they get one classic camptivity outside (weather permitting). We cannot guarantee which activities each group will do as it will depend on staffing, girls attending, and weather. Girls will complete all requirements up to the Take Action project. The Take Action project will be up to individual or troop to complete on their own time after this event.
