Girl Scout Summer Camps at Camp Timber Ridge, Camp Meriwether and Camp Misty Mountain give girls the unforgettable opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, embrace challenges, cultivate confidence, and make memories that last a lifetime. For many, it is a summertime rite of passage. They’re outside and unstoppable.
This season, campers can expect the return of beloved activities like horseback riding, STEM programs, hiking, archery, swimming, and other fun exciting activities. In addition, our American Camp Association accredited camps will continue to inspire and empower girls to develop life skills, explore passions, and build deep connections by bringing in a series of exciting session updates to our camps.
The team has been busy dreaming up these exciting upgrades across all three of our Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta camps, created with the girl experience in mind. Even better? Girls don’t have to be a Girl Scout to join the fun and adventure!
Camp Timber Ridge is buzzing with the spirit of celebration this year, marking a century of adventure, discovery, growth, and camp magic. Since its inception in 1924, this retreat is nestled within Metro-Atlanta and has been a cornerstone for generations of Girl Scouts.
Camp Timber Ridge Day Camp is open to girls entering Kindergarten through 12th grade and features a sparkling lake, an archery range, a swimming pool, kayaking, canoeing, and innovative STEM and Design Labs, and much more.
The beloved ropes course challenge at Camp Timber Ridge just got even more intense! While Camp Timber Ridge has been around 100 years, it continues to inspire new adventures, including the new and improved rope course that has been upgraded with the latest safety measures. The course itself is also even more elaborate, meaning there’s even more challenges and elements for campers to experience.
Camp Meriwether Sleepaway Camp sprawls across 270 acres of picturesque landscape, tucked away just 50 miles southwest of Metro-Atlanta and offers an unforgettable experience for girls rising into 2nd to 12th grade. Its English equestrian program is in high demand, where campers explore the art of horseback riding and horse care.
Camp Meriwether has hiking trails for miles, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and archery. The climbing tower and challenge course allow campers to test their limits and build confidence, conquering challenges together with friends.
For those with a creative spirit, Camp Meriwether also offers drama, arts, and other exciting activities for campers to express themselves. And when the sun gets too hot, campers can cool off in the pool or paddle around the pond on canoes and kayaks. Camp Meriwether creates a sense of “home” for both campers and staff.
Fast-paced and high energy, what’s a more exciting summer activity than an intense game of Gaga Ball to build friendly competition and sportsmanship? Gaga Ball has been a camp favorite since its inception around the 1970s. Camp Meriwether’s new Gaga ball pits are waiting and ready for players to bring friendly competition and action to the beloved game.
Camp Misty Mountain, established in 1971 and against the Appalachian Mountains, provides an unforgettable sleepaway summer camp experience for girls. It is a premier sleepaway camp for older Girl Scouts, grades 2-12. This enchanting camp offers equestrian excellence, lakeside adventures, and unforgettable memories.
The outdoor adventures are limitless, which include Western-style horseback riding, paddleboarding, nature hikes, team building exercises, and high adventure.
Whether it’s outdoor skills, STEM, crafts, or nature exploration, Camp Misty Mountain provides activities for every interest, while bonding with new and old friends around campfire traditions.
Camp staff at Camp Misty Mountain are looking forward to bringing back an old Girl Scout tradition – riflery. Campers will not only work on target practice, but also work on improving their focus and discipline. Under the guidance of nationally trained instructors, Girl Scouts will learn air rifle basics like equipment safety, gear tutorials, proper shooting techniques, and how thrilling the sport of marksmanship can be!
During this program, campers will shoot at targets using competitive air rifles and pellets. Parents must sign permission form for riflery prior to arrival at camp.
