Safe@Home by Safe Sitter® is a program designed for students in grades 4-6 (or at least 9 years old in the State of Georgia ) to prepare them to be safe when they are home alone. Safe@Home is a 90-minute program that teaches students how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter® First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. A Safe@Home student booklet is required for each student and will be mailed to the student prior to the start of the first class. Lastly, completion of this course fulfills 1 of the requirements for the Junior Independence badge. If you need assistance with deciding if your child is ready to stay home alone (for short periods of time <2 hours), please read the following article Is My Child Ready to Stay at Home Alone.
