Girl Scouts Water Safety at Six Flags White Water

June 15, 2019

Park Hours 10:30am – 7:00pm

9:00am                       Parking Lot Opens to the Public

9:30am                       Gates Open for Girl Scouts and Family. Girl Scouts present admission ticket and patch voucher to secure patch

9:30am – 10:30am    Water Safety Session at the Activity Pool

10:30 am                    Girl Scouts will be among the first riders of the day as the park opens to the public!  

2:00pm – 3:00pm    Catered All-You-Can-Eat Buffet Meal (optional) The Catered Buffet Meal includes an all-you-can-eat meal in the private picnic pavilion located across from Sky Screamer. Meal includes southern fried chicken, beef hot dogs, potato chips, baked beans, ice cream and Coca-Cola fountain drinks.

7 pm – Park closes.

Topics and Skills Covered in the 9:30-10:30 a.m. water safety session:

1.    Examining Water, i.e. PH Levels (Discussion and Activity: Checking PH Level)

2.    Inspecting Water, i.e. Water Surveillance and visual scanning (Discussion and Activity)

3.    Water Safety, i.e. Use of Buddy System and Life Jacket

4.    Water Slide Safety, i.e. Rider Safety (Discussion and Activity: Guests practice rider safety while riding pre-selected ride.. before the park is officially open)

5.    Lifeguard Demonstration (Demonstration of how our lifeguards react to trouble in the water)

These activities can be completed by girls of all ages, although the core audience for the grade school-aged girls. Girls are generally separated into appropriate age groups at the water safety session so the content can be covered at an age-appropriate level. Certified lifeguard personnel will be onsite for training, Q&A and demonstration.

The skills covered in the water session can help Girl Scouts earn First Aid badges in multiple age levels. This resource (linked to First Aid Badges.pdf) will help identify what skills are covered in each level of First Aid Badges.
